Germany

Kaiserschmarrn ("Kaiser", meaning "Emperor" and "Schmarrn" meaning "Nonsense" in Austrian German) is a well-known Austrian dessert, popular in the former Austria–Hungary as well as in Bavaria.

Kaiserschmarrn is a light, caramelized pancake made from a sweet batter using flour, eggs, sugar, salt, and milk, baked in butter.

Preparation: You need: 200ml milk (1.5% fat), 1 egg (size M), approx. 1 teaspoon margarine or butter for frying

1. Add 200ml milk and the egg into a mixing bowl. Stir the contents of the bag with a whisk so that a smooth dough is produced.

2. Heat margarine or butter in a coated pan (Ø 28cm). Add the dough and fry the bottom at medium heat until golden brown. Turn over, and fry until golden brown. Then rip it into small pieces and fry for about 1 minute.

3. Sprinkle the Kaiserschmarrn with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar and refine as required with compote, apple sauce or fresh fruit. One bag makes 2-3 portions.

Ingredients: WHEAT flour, sugar, 12% raisins, modified starch, SKIMMED MILK POWDER, baking powder (raising agent glucono-delta-lactone, sodium bicarbonate), salt, thickener (guar gum), flavoring (contains BARLEY)
